Open Thread

Hey, where'd summer go? I'm not ready for fall just yet. Can someone ask the powers to be to bring back the sun?

In the meantime, I know Clint is on vacation, so if you're looking for a place to chat here's an open thread to keep us busy while we wait for summer to return.

Did anyone else notice the article in the O about the condo building envelope issues litigation? That is not the only one in the grinder and their specific problem is not limited to condos.

The O's website is so bad I can rarely bring myself to read it. So no I haven't seen it. Can you elaborate?

In my opinion, this is what the article said:

Marty Kehoe converted some 20 year old apartments to condos. There were some construction problems with them and rather than fix them Kehoe ducked. The HOA hired an ambulance chasing attorney and his band of alarmist inspectors and obscenely overpriced contractors stirred the bees nest. They sued for $7 million and got $2.3 million. The average attorney fees on these deals is close to $2 million so the HOA now has repairs to make and very little money to make them. I bet they would have done better settling. Hope the shop the hell out of the contractor if they are not "locked in" with them (likely Charter Construction who moved down here from Seattle when the laws changed).
